Afternoon, I have heard people talk about Violets Lane - Furneux Pelham, it has been called the longest ford in europe, it has been refered to as The Somme....

There is rumour of a big pothole in it, is it on the right or the left??

Is it worth riding down??

Hi Aceboy
I've only just joined and this is my first ever forum post. I rode fernaux pelham on march 1st this year, it was headlight deep (KTM 950 super enduro!). Riding north the hole (it feels more like a step) but it was under 2 foot of water so difficult to say, the hole is on your right. This time of year it's bone dry and you can cycle it! A friend did it in December in his Discovery and it lifted the 'whole' vehicle up before he could reverse out...
I filmed our ride it's on www.youtube.com/glennvieira. tell me what you think.

Be careful with Violets Lane, it can change very quickly after rain.

And as for being bone dry ths time of year, it wasn't about three weeks ago when I really struggled to get down there in my Freelander, also had wet carpets for days afterwards.

It's a regular for me as it's only a few miles from home. Ridden and driven it in a range of bikes/4x4s

Best time ever was in March, half way up the windscreen on a Discovery and I had to break the ice all the way along!

Good job I had a 2" suspension lift, Big mud terrains and a snorkel :D
