August is a very quiet time on the Plain with just the Army Cadets being the principal users.

Starting off in the East-
Bulford Rifle Range byways will be open to the public on-
1st and 2nd
15th and 16th
22nd and 23rd
29th,30th and 31st (Bank Holiday Weekend).

Over to the west and the Larkhill/Westdown Ranges (byways only)
3rd to the 23rd
29th,30th and 31st (Bank Holiday Weekend).

The byways around the Training village on Chitterne down are open 24/7 as usual but now and again they stop you using the short section that runs around the North of the Village (about a half mile section).

The Imber Range is open but only on the metalled roads between Warminster-Gore Cross and
Bratton-Haytesbury.These roads are not maintained to public standard so extreme caution should be taken. :D :D

The village of Imber is worth a visit as its only open three times per year.
The dates for Imber are from 8.00am Sunday the 16th of August through to 6.00pm Sunday the 6th of September.

If any active member from the forum is planning a jolly out on the Plain in August and want advice on routes/parking/fuel etc then please give me a shout.

Cheers,
Andy.

BTW. If you get shot............don't blame me. :D :D
