I'm sure its been a while since we chatted about tyres and as I've been running the same bike for the last 4 years I feel abit out of touch. Has anyone got any good advice on tyre options and sises for the TTR250 please? PS I know sises is spelt wrong but the letter I need (which I can't specify because its not working) is not working so I have to spell it sises ... does that make sense ? I would tell you the other words I'm struggling with but it would get complicated and if you haven't sussed it by now you probably don't care anyway.

Ive just bought a set of Trelleborgs Mike, used to use these yaers ago when i used to race properly, very good make of tyre and very reasonably priced http://www.trelleborgtyres.co.uk/page1.htmI bought the road legal motocross ones as have used them before and they do offer good grip in slippery conditions. Another tyre make to consider is the Mitas range, although these tyres can take quite a while to bed in! You can also find them on the link above. I always try and find the best tyre for the price i want to pay(cheap) as its the major expense on a trail bike so i dont want to buy Michelins at 60quid a pop! Size wise? im not sure but i wouldnt go to wide as turning the bike can then become an issue, 90/90/21 and probable 120/80/18 would be my guess.

What ever you want...
As long as it will fit in between the swingarm your cool.
90/90/21 is the standard front size so there will be more of this size around= cheaper!
try a 120-130/80-90/18 im sure most will fit.
Try PMing Tomsdad as he will know what will fit.

Thats a handy little link Ian and the answers are easily aquired. I don't know if sise is important but the last letter of the aphabet is definately a must

Thanks Ian, I feel much better now. I think from this day forth I shall boycott the letter * as a matter of principle Now I need to decide on model. I have got on well with the 6 day extremes but may try a cheaper option

Not sure there is much of a cheap option now - the prices on Ebay are scary ! I have the Mitas Stoneking on the back which a lot of people seem to use , certainly hard wearing and probably good in deep mud but the worst tyre I have ever used on the road !

eBay is the most expensive place to buy enduro tyres go direct to the manfacturer or importer and you will get a much better price.

Hi Mike. I use Mitas CO2 on the rear, and a Bridgestone Gritty on the front, and find this a great combination for grip off and on road, and they dont wear too fast either. The Mitas Co2 is a road legal moto-x tyre that wasnt allowed in some uk Rallies, but is now ok to use on all the Rallies. And the Gritty is legal.

Cheers Gwyn, I've had a Gritty on the front of the 600 for ages and its done me proud. Will have a butchers at the Mitas. Went out on trail tyres yesterday which was very funny after all the rain we've had. Will report later
