Evening, has anyone ever done an organised Enduro? I am being told they are not competitive at the lower levels, but I find that a little difficult to believe...Is there such a thing as a novice enduro? or an enduro practice "track"

This is a family run enduro practice track consisisting of 40 acres of woodland and field track complete with Table top, Berm and Whoops.

Our aim here is to provide a safe and enjoyable place for riders of all ages and abilities, with that in mind we do not allow quads over 250cc. Cotswold enduro club run something they call a Slowpete series which is aimed at the begginner entry level.

Also dont let anybody tell you that enduros at a lower level arnt competitive as thats a load of bull, when that flag drops, its everyman for himself!!! It may be abit more relaxed but everyone wants tyo win at the end of the day..

Go for it Aceboy, try a rally cause theyre even more fun but again dont ever believe they aint competetive cause they are. You'd love it

The Rallies are a great place to stretch your legs and try competition. The courses are probably not as technical but they do use parts of enduro courses. HDBC do some fairly tough rallies which are worth a try

you could always do what I do and ride motocross in between enduro's , It really improves your riding and speed, and Id thoroughly recommend a motocross training day its the best money you can spend and you learn so much Enduros seem far more relaxed afterwards, I just gotta stop catapulting myself over the bars when the red mist decends!!

What is the difference between a rally and an Enduro?

A rally is generaly for the bigger bikes and is of a longer nature ie, 35mile laps with 2 or 3 special tests per lap which are timed, but is a much more relaxed affair and you dont have to rush between the tests. And will normally be either all day or a 2day affair.

An enduro is for more focused machines like 250cc, 450cc full on enduro racers, and everything is timed, normally a special test that has to be ridden 2 times and laps which you are given different times to complete them in ie, lap1 will be 29mins, lap2 35mins, lap3 20mins and so on. You get penalised if you arrive either too early or too late so its a case of pacing yourself. An enduro is normally either 3 or 4 hrs.

Having said all that the rallies are now becoming more small bike focused..

Yeh agreed, and to me it seems also that the stage timings are getting much tighter over the years, as when we first did the rallies I can remember out on the liason sections whilst waiting to go off on the special stages you had time to see what other people were riding, have a chat with them ie the overall timings were relaxed. Whereas the last few we did were much tighter on time, or maybe the stages are getting trickier, or maybe both.

They're still great fun though
