My 604e as pictured below is a bit poorly after seizing on me!

Currently looking for a second hand motor (and have hopefully found one) as this is going to be the cheapest fix (spares are stupid prices from CCM).

Never mind, I'm picking up my new Beemer F800GS tomorrow, not really for trail riding but I bet it won't be long before it gets dirty

This is the damage to the CCM

my guess is it was running too lean and just got to hot, I had ridden about 50 miles at a fairly brisk pace when it went bang. Thinking about it I had most probably never run it at sustained high revs for that long in one go before, so it had never got that hot.

I do recall thinking shortly before hand "sounds like it's pinking a bit, must get the jetting sorted"

Having posted here gave me the incentive to dig out the phone number for the guy I had been told had an engine for sale...

RESULT!

Did the deal and I pick it up on Saturday so it looks like the CCM will live again

Thats a better option than fixing the old motor. You probably know but thought I'd mention the possible need to adjust carburation etc to avoid a second incident

Yeah I had jetted it down because I had replaced the CCM (Remus made) competition can (VERY LOUD!) with the stock can. Unfortunately I forgot to allow for the fact that the airbox had been drilled full of holes so it still breathes a lot more air than stock.

Couldn't get a plug spanner to fit so couldn't do a plug chop.

The new motor will get a nice big 185 main jet back in to replace the 175 it was running!

And I now know I need a plug spanner from a Suzuki Bandit to fit
